Day 4: Luang Prabang - Kuang Si Waterfalls - Luang Prabang

For early risers, there is a very special dawn visit to watch the collecting alms by monks.  As the sun begins to rise, long lines of orange-robed monks leave their pagodas and walk barefoot down the streets collecting offerings from Luang Prabang residents.  Return to the hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast, depart with guide and driver for a short transfer through the Luang Prabang countryside to Kuang Si Waterfalls. Stop en-route to visit a small ethnic village, learning about their traditions and culture.

Upon reaching Kuang Si Waterfall, relax and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. The water collects into several cool, clear pools where it’s possible to take a refreshing swim.

On the road back, there is an optional visit to Free the Bears. This sanctuary houses 23 Asiatic bears, all which have been rescued from poachers. Additionally, a stop can be made at the Kuang Si Butterfly Park where hundreds of the area’s indigenous species can be found. Afterwards, stop for a picnic lunch near the falls before returning to Luang Prabang in the afternoon.

As the day comes to the end, there will be a unique opportunity to experience one of Laos’ oldest traditions, The Baci. The purpose of the Baci is to call back escaped spirits to the body, a ceremony generally held before major events such as weddings, births, travel and farewells.
